Metamorphosis: Outfit Creation + Construction
TEACHING ARTIST: Dani Blackwell Tuesday + Thursday | Sept.6 - Sept.29 | 12 - 3 pm
IN PERSON - PwA ArtHOME | studio 1
Join me for Path with Art’s 2022 outfit design class! This year PwA gave us the theme, METAMORPHOSIS. Together, we’ll explore this guiding theme as we work to create a one-of-a-kind outfit to shine on the runway. For our first class at the new ArtHOME, I will bring some basic silhouette sketches to get our creative ideas off and running. I welcome you to begin thinking about what this year’s theme, METAMORPHOSIS, means to you and bring your great ideas to class in September. Looking forward to working with you all soon! No prior sewing skills are required, but those with experience are encouraged to enroll.
This is an in-person class, but could change to virtual based on evolving health guidelines. See our in-person policies here.

What do you find yourself bringing over and over again to the recycle bin? What materials can you bring new life to and transform into a fashion statement? Let’s make a fashionable creature come to life through a metamorphosis of discarded, found, and manipulated material. Start collecting now! I have cardboard, packing material, corks, and toilet paper cores, to name a few. No prior building/sewing skills are required, but those with these skills are encouraged to enroll.
This is an in-person class, but could change to virtual based on evolving health guidelines. See our in-person policies here.
Introduction to Set Design
TEACHING ARTIST: Rachael Androski. Wednesdays, 1 - 3 PM PDT | Sept. 7 - sept. 28 | via zoom
A scenic designer creates the environment that helps tell the story of a play, musical, or performance––this includes the scenery, props, furniture, and overall appearance of the stage. These pieces are a powerful tool to help ground the audience in an immersive environment. In this short class, participants will learn from active scenic designer Rachael Androski about the process of set design––from reading the script to developing sketches and scenic models. Participants will have the opportunity to work on their own ideas for a set (for a real or hypothetical) performance. No prior experience required--all are welcome.
Collaborative Music-Making for the Runway
TEACHING ARTIST: Shaina Shepherd Wednesdays, 3 - 5 PM PDT | Sept. 7 - sept. 28 | via zoom
How can what we experience visually––including color, texture, and material translate into music? The music in a fashion show sets the tone for the energy and helps tell the story of the looks on display. In this collaborative music-for-the-runway class, we will focus on using digital piano and synths to score a fashion show featuring a few designers. We will start with a quick dive into runway composition and listen to different examples. The class will culminate in a group collaboration on the music for one runway look. No prior music experience is necessary––all are welcome.

TEACHING ARTIST: Maisha Manson Mondays | 3 - 5 PM

Writers capture events, situations, and feelings from the world and immortalize it in print––everything from the mundane to the extraordinary. In this class, we will look at everyday life as our inspiration for the fantastic. Participants will be given prompts for writing that suggest alternate perspectives tives, or use inventive exaggeration. Similar to a friend that always tells the best stories, we will look at what grips the reader and turn the volume up to 11 on our writing.
