Tuesdays, 1-3 PM
May 2 to june 20 [8 SESSIONS, FINAL 2 SESSIONS IN-PERSON OR HYBRID]

In this class we will be diving into our own personal musical histories, from the songs we first heard as children to the ones where we remember the moment we first heard them. Let's find out how we all interconnect musically, share what we love about the music, and use it as a springboard to help us to discover new paths and dig deeper into our own art. Along the way we will acquire practical tools and use them to create songs, stories, paintings, or whatever our imaginations can come up with.
The final two class sessions participants can attend in-person, if desired. We will also have a virtual component for those who can only attend virtually or prefer online. No prior experience necessary. Musicians of all instruments invited to join.

Seattle Rep Public Works Acting Series
TEACHING ARTIST: Taryn Collis
[8 sessions] WEDNESDAYS, 4:30-6 pm
may 3 to June 21
ArtHome | 200 Mercer St
This class will explore acting through different famous historical and contemporary playwrights. From Shakespeare to now, we will use plays to try on a number of characters through scene acting exercises. Participants will engage in a variety of exercises to use physical transformation and vocal specificity to bring a character to life. We will explore how to interpret the inner life of a character - their personality, desires, conflicts and all that makes them tick from scripts. We will then reflect and journal on how embodying these different characters made us feel and what we learned about ourselves in this process. This is a great class for anyone who is interested in theater, acting, or exploring our sense of self.
No prior experience or knowledge of theater is necessary, all are welcome! This is an in-person class. See our in-person policies here.

[8 Sessions] Thursdays, 1-3 pm
May 4 to June 22
ArtHome | 200 Mercer St

Together, we will be transferring a story of belonging onto a large piece of fabric. We will learn and use techniques such as; bedazzling, iron image transfers, painting on fabric, and/or applique to create a large collage that each participant adds to. All of the images and marks we make on the fabric will represent what belonging means to us. Once the collaborative piece is done, we will spend the final class sessions assisting in the transformation of this fabric collage to a grand costume for Path with Art's Art for All Ball (fall fundraiser). Participants will also have the option to make more of their own work to take home.
No prior experience needed. Come learn some great techniques for fabric work. This is an in-person class. See our in-person policies here.

Tunnel Books: Perspectives on Paper
Beth Sheehan Reliquary, 2017
BY RACHAEL ANDROSKI
MATERIALS MAILED TO PARTICIPANTS
Tunnel books are a series of cut-paper pages placed one behind the other, and held together by folded paper at the sides like an accordion. The overall effect is an illusion of depth and perspective. Tunnel books date all the way back to the mid-18 century when they were originally called, “peep shows.” The concept was inspired by theatrical stage.
