Advocacy

Profound challenges call for creative solutions.

From years of work in our community to cutting-edge clinical evidence and research, Path with Art is forging ahead to change the systems that shape health solutions. Through research, education, and advocacy, we're building the case that art belongs at the center of how we approach public health. We're bringing policymakers, healthcare leaders, and communities along with us as we carve new paths toward a healthy society.

Building Evidence for the Arts

In partnership with Johns Hopkins School of Medicine’s International Arts + Mind Lab, Path with Art is producing quantitative and qualitative evidence of art’s impact on trauma recovery. Stay tuned for the findings from the PwA /Johns Hopkins research collaboration, pending publication in June 2026.

Community Neuroarts Coalition (CNC)

Path with Art now leads the Puget Sound Community Neuroarts Coalition. In partnership with the Aspen Institute’s NeuroArts Blueprint and Johns Hopkins International Arts + Mind Lab, we are leading a nation-wide movement bringing together regional partners across health, science, business, and the arts. Through public events and cross-disciplinary convenings, we are exploring how creative experiences can be used to improve community health and well-being.

Arts Prescribing

Arts prescribing is an evidence-based approach that enables healthcare providers to refer patients to arts and cultural experiences to support mental and physical health. Decades of research show that creative engagement can improve health and well-being. Arts-based interventions offer a cost-effective complement to traditional care and are already showing success in the UK and parts of the U.S.

Path with Art is co-leading an effort to bring arts prescribing to Washington State, in partnership with the Washington State Arts Commission and community investors.
